Organization: GreaterGood South Africa was created in 2004.

Organization’s biography: GreaterGood South Africa is a public service organization that connects givers with good causes and activates the public to give responsibly. We do this with innovative platforms for givers and causes to connect online; by providing support for civil society organizations; hosting public call-to-action campaigns; generating news, advice, debate and thought leadership in our newsletters, blogs and in the media.

We believe everyone has something to give. From a child with his/her spare time to donate, to pension fund advisors who manage huge amounts of money, there is a way for every South African to get involved in the development of their country. As part of the GreaterGood group, the GreaterGood South Africa Trust develops the sector for social change by facilitating the full spectrum of giving and social investment in South Africa.

My most meaningful place in South Africa: “It is standing on Robben Island – looking back across the bay at the beauty of Table Mountain and the city of Cape Town. To me it represents the triumph of hope over adversity and proves what people can overcome if they have the resilience and strength to stick to their principles. The 1994 elections were our nation’s finest hour and I hope that we can recapture some of that sense of hope and togetherness during the World Cup.”
